EPISODE 9: Be Healthy ft. Dr. L.
“Make time for activities that promote mental and emotional well-being…” - Dr. L.
Being healthy is important because it directly impacts our overall well-being and quality of life.
Having the energy, attention, and resilience necessary to overcome obstacles daily, work toward our objectives, and thoroughly enjoy life is made possible by maintaining our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Many factors can hamper our capacity to remain healthy.
Sedentary Lifestyle: Whether working a desk job or engaging in sedentary hobbies like watching TV or using electronics, modern life frequently entails lengthy periods of sitting. This inactivity can result in weight gain, weakened muscles, and a higher chance of developing chronic illnesses.
Unhealthy Diet: An inadequate diet can lead to weight gain, nutrient deficiencies, and an elevated risk of diabetes and heart disease. It can also include an excessive intake of processed foods, sugar-filled drinks, and unhealthy fats.
Stress and Poor Self-Care: Excessive stress levels combined with poor self-care habits can have a detrimental effect on mental and emotional well-being. This may show up as signs of depression, anxiety, burnout, or trouble sticking to a healthy routine.
Advice that I can offer for those having trouble being healthy…
Start Small & Set Achievable Goals: Start by making modest, doable adjustments to your daily regimen. For example, replacing harmful food with healthier ones or going for quick walks during breaks.
Prioritize Self-care: Make time for activities that promote mental and emotional well-being, such as practicing mindfulness, engaging in hobbies, or seeking support from friends, family, or professionals.
Focus on Balance & Moderation: Aim for a balanced diet that includes a variety of whole foods while allowing yourself occasional treats. Similarly, engage in regular physical activity but find a balance that works without overexertion.
Create a Supportive Environment: Surround yourself with people who support your health goals and eliminate or reduce exposure to negative influences that may hinder your progress.
Seek Professional Guidance: If you find it challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle, consider seeking help from healthcare professionals, nutritionists, or therapists who can provide personalized advice and support.
