EPISODE 3: Be Logical ft. Ellceey of The Interracial Perspective Podcast!
“Consider how your emotions and personal experiences may be influencing your thinking.” - Ellceey
Being logical, in my opinion, is having a consistent, logical cognitive process.
In contrast to today, it involves analyzing and evaluating arguments, ideas, and statements using logic and supporting evidence.
To be logical, one must exercise critical thinking, recognize premises and conclusions, and evaluate the truthfulness and soundness of arguments.
Most significantly, I think being logical involves taking on a realistic perspective rather than an emotional one.
I have not personally been in a situation that has prevented me from being logical.
However, as someone who can understand and listen to all sides of an issue which is what I believe defines logic and practicality, it is baffling when certain statements are made purely from an emotional standpoint instead of a logical aspect.
If I feel I am being put in a situation that prevents me from being logical I remove myself and simply don’t engage.
Advice that I can offer is for people to engage with a variety of viewpoints and opinions, even if they differ from your own. Exposing yourself to different perspectives can challenge your assumptions and help you broaden your understanding of complex issues.
This will enable you to approach problems and arguments from a more balanced and logical standpoint.
Take time to reflect on your own beliefs, biases, and cognitive processes.
Consider how your emotions and personal experiences may be influencing your thinking.
Reflecting on your own thoughts and biases can help you become more aware of potential pitfalls and biases that may hinder logical reasoning.
Welcome constructive feedback and be open to having your ideas challenged. By engaging in discussions and debates with others, you can gain new insights and perspectives that might help improve your logical thinking skills.
